David Gedge's longtime friendship with both BBC One veteran John Peel and producer Steve Albini continues to guide the former Wedding Present leader's career with his more lush and sometime sentimental project, Cinerama. The title track was debuted on Peel's show in May 2001 and Albini re-recorded said song for the album. The lyrical focus of Health And Efficiency is looking back at looking forward. Cinerama, which could be seen as Weddoes with strings, effectively merges the head-on wash of guitars with lush strings, effectively illustrating Cinerama's competing musical forces. Also included on the album is another new Cinerama song, "Swim" and a credible cover of the theme to the James Bond movie, Diamonds Are Forever, which continues Gedge's reputation as the best cover band in the world, bar none. The EP bodes well for Cinerama's present future. ******
